hear me out!
depletion of natural resources especially crude oil /petroleum and rise of non-biodegrable items such as polysterene cups and take-away packs. those are a few of the major concerns in the current world today . some claim that petroleum will deplete within 50 years time..some say 2024, looking at the rapid pace of the industrial activities which require it . do check out oildepletion.blogspot.com during your free time..i will definitely finish reading it soon. well, we can't do much right now.. but hey , at least be AWARE first.
and i was just watching tv and got bored with the advertisement , i decided to switch to a sport channel for a while. i was then watching FORMULA ONE and the forecast of the montreal Grand Prix. okay, here , i see a small commercial of team SAUBER PETRONAS, put simply .it was presenting graphical images of their ideal car running around the track with the objective to promote their team and the sponsors involved. Okay, FYI, PETRONAS , is malaysia's leading oil refining company which has major exports to neighbouring regions and one of the driving force that maintains the economy backbone of MALAYSIA. all right , after that commercial, this question came to my mind..
'
' all ryt , here i see PETRONAS sponsoring an F1 team and on the other hand ..and oil depletion which can bring about detrimental effects to the world. k what's the connection here?''
personally, i just don't understand why F1 is such a MAJOR hit.to me, it's just skillful drivers handling their cars at high speed and going abt 54 laps and at the end.what's interesting..drivers will lose 3-4 kg of water after each race..so cool ..there are only 3 winners in each round and the rest just collect consolation points for their team. i've attended an enrichment course in my college with regards to the beauty of engineering in F1. from there, i totally understand that F1 is an arena for engineers , car component makers ..etc etc to pit their expertise on the line to create the FASTEST car on track ..and who ever successfully do so shall receive honours and increase their companies' reputation ..other than that...sponsors are just there MAINLY for their publicity cos of the millions and millions of FANS watching world wide. sure, who wouldn't seize the opportunity to do so ? BUT ..never the less.. what's the main GOAL at the very end of the day? so what if we create the best F1 car with refined aerodynamics and precisely tuned-up engine? CAN MOST OF US AFFORD IT in the 1st place?
okay , i try to fit into the shoes of FUEL COMPANIES. well, they will be conducting R&D to create fuel that gives maximum performance.. yes credit shd be given for their tireless effort .. however , wouldn't it be better to reserve for your own countries' use.. i've absolutely no intention in condemning their move in contributing into F1.. but it's just a piece of my mind. well, there is always oil rigging all around the world in search of NEW oil sources but eventually , it will deplete. it will!! and even with other alternatives which have the potential to replace petroleum ..there is no reason for us to waste our precious away.. we need to achieve SUSTAINABLE development.
was just reading an article in channelnewsasia.com and they were mentioning about the cost of packaging materials on the verge of rising and that's definitely not a good sign for we ASIANs who like to 'tah pau' / take away. Businessmen would have no other resort but to raise their prices in order to counter the rise of cost and with this , it leads to consumers being the 'victims' . oh no , haha.. but government bodies are going to meet up to discuss the standard packaging all over the region which includes the quota for exports and imports.. i have this silly idea.. why don't we just bring our own tupperwares to hawker centres and take away?? perhaps, it sounds SUPER UBER CONVENIENT ..but hey... how heavy can a tupperware be... even if you're placing orders for your colleagues/friends.. i am sure there are plastic bags to carry them right..to me, why don't we introduce a standard tupperware..u know those that look like 'lock and lock' and all consumers will just use this to take away? haha but then again , manafacturing companies would be cursing me for that crappy idea.. and i shall cost thousands of factory workers out of job ryt...come to think of it .. it may not seem feasible cos there'll be ppl who are just too lazy to carry their own lunch boxes or reuse their plastic cases and just DEMAND for a new one. sighx.. well , that's life ...we are supposed to be concerned because of these non biodegrable packagings, we are producing greenhouse gases that are gonna make our climate freaking hot when we are old.. haha ..and what's worse.. our children will be blaming us for OUR environmental apathy and ignorance.. NOO!!!
in 2005 , i was involved in this A level ASSESSED project work with yee yong , bee luan and fadzillah.. we were working on promoting the integration of PEOPLE WITH disabilites [PWD] into the work force by organising bi annual work fair for 'these-abled' people. and recently i caught up with news on singapore companies trying their best to do so .. HOLIDAY INN PARK was one of the eleven companies who share the noble yet common purpose. i am kinda proud that we worked on this issue together.. god bless the PWDs aight.
bee, do you think we should hand in our proposal to UR government just for fun? hahaha u never know..
anyways , this is my voice. hear me out and spread the love man.
